As the holiday season approaches, many job seekers will look to seasonal opportunities, but fewer employers plan to hire seasonal workers this year, according to a report by Manpower Inc.
In 2008, department stores nationwide cut back on seasonal hiring by 63% compared to the year prior, hitting its lowest point in a decade. A spokeswoman from the National Retail Association said that before retailers hire new workers this year, they plan to offer full-time or part-time employees the option of picking up additional hours.
