Today 17 police agencies in South Jersey will receive funding for a program aimed at reducing the number of pedestrian deaths. Authorities in NJ say that as an increasing number of people give up their cars and rely on their feet to get around, there could be an upswing in pedestrian fatalities. Beginning on Monday, police  are cracking down on motorists. Undercover officers, posing as pedestrians will be stationed at crosswalks and drivers who fail to yield will either be warned or ticketed by uniformed officers standing by. The ticket will cost drivers $100 in fines, $30 in court costs, and 2 points on their license.
