Yesterday, eBay’s PayPal- the world’s largest Internet-based payment system handling $2,000 in online transactions per second- shut down for about an hour worldwide due to “internal problems.” Analysts say that an occasional server shutdown is common among companies- Netflix, Google, and Amazon.com have all had similar issues in the past, so yesterday’s shutdown was not an isolated incident.
