Johnson & Johnson’s McNeil unit announced a voluntary recall of infants’ and children’s liquid Tylenol products due to potential bacterial contamination.

The products were manufactured between April and June, and involve nearly two dozen varieties including Children’s Tylenol Suspension 4 oz. Grape, Infants’ Tylenol Grape Suspension Drops ¼ oz. and Children’s Tylenol Plus Cold/Allergy 4 oz. Bubble Gum.

Although Johnson & Johnson said there were no bacteria found in the finished product, there was an inactive ingredient that failed to meet internal test requirements. They said the likelihood of a serious medical event is remote, but in cooperation with the FDA, J&J decided to recall the products as a safety precaution.

For more information, you can call McNeil’s consumer call center at 1-800-962-5357 or visit Tylenol’s website for the specific lot numbers being recalled.
