450 joyful women.  The ballroom at the Chase Center in Wilmington was packed, as Delaware Today honored more than 20 women who have done remarkable things in business, non-profit and government work.  The room was filled go-getters, dreamers, doers and supporters- what a wonderful vibe.

Delaware Today tried something new this year- instead of a “keynote”, they asked me to interview a leader in business – Alisa Morkides, founder and owner of Brew Ha Ha!  First, let e say how much I love the idea of an interview style program, and here’s why:  so many smart, accomplished women have great information and inspiration to share, but they have trouble with the actual public speaking part of it (which is why I host workshops on how to ACE Public Speaking).   The interview format takes at least some of the nerves of being on stage away and let’s the woman shine through.

Having said that, Alisa would have rocked it either way!  What great passion as we talked about leadership and life, challenges and failures…. And really identifying what your passions are.  Many of her passions were ignited more than 20 years ago when she sipped espresso in a Florence, Italy cafe.   From there, she turned her vision to recreate that feeling of great coffee and community in uniquely decorated locations across the state of Delaware.  Could have listened to her for hours.  Congrats to her and her continued success…. And to all who attended who have found their definition of a successful life and are living it with intention.
