Consumer Groups Reach Out to Victims of Rejected Clunker Deals

The popular “Cash for Clunkers” program was a deal for some, but for others, it was far from that. The cumbersome regulations have caused some applications to be kicked back because of technicalities, and some consumers have been told that their rebate was rejected, after already taking their new car off the lot. Dealers are not allowed to ask for repayment- it’s their responsibility to verify the paperwork before completing the transaction.

In addition to dealers rejecting the rebates and asking for repayment, there is also a growing concern that dealers are asking consumers to repay rebates after the government has already reimbursed them. A number of consumer groups are collecting data on rejected deals, and plan to turn the results in to the National Safety Administration to make sure that buyers are being treated fairly. If you’ve been a victim of a “cash for clunkers” fraud, visit Edmunds.com and email them to state your case.

Clunker for a Clunker? That’s the DEAL????????

I bought a Chrysler Town and Country 09 in NJ. with a trade in of a clunker.
I have since had the car in for repairs 4 times (twice in one day).
They have replaced two modulars and then finally the entire electrical system under the dashboard.
I am still having problems. There are two things that concern me the most
(1) the car has most of the problems on very hot days are as( won’t start, shuts off on the road, windshieldwipers won’t work, windows don’t go up or down), etc.
Yet the biggest thing that concerns me is that my mom said she saw on the news that I only have 4000 miles and two months to return the car as a clunker returns, after that I will have to use the lemon law and will have to fight this battle- and i am afraid that the car will not show it’s true colors on a cold day- then what?????
Can you PLEASE HELP me because I only have less than 2 weeks left.
