After a brutal PR hit this week from both Consumer Reports and late-night comedians, Apple (AAPL) Friday will lay out its plans to fix its growing problems with the iPhone 4′s antenna.
Apple executives must “clear the air, be very upfront about the technology they used and how the problems will be corrected,” says Tim Bajarin, an analyst at Creative Strategies.
Consumer Reports has said it can’t recommend a purchase of the new iPhone because of faulty reception. The issue: Touch the antenna on the side of the iPhone, and the signal can weaken. CR said an easy fix would be to put on a case, or Apple’s new “bumpers,” to eliminate dropped calls.
